It is with great sadness that the Wivenhoe, Fingringhoe and Rowhedge Ferry Trust shares the news that our Chairman, Phil Booth, has passed away. Phil gave many years of his life to this organisation, the last five of them as Chairman. We were lucky to have him for all of it.
Those who knew Phil will remember someone who simply got things done reliably, and without fuss. He kept the ferry running when it needed keeping running. He skippered countless crossings, familiar to so many of us using the ferry. He was the driving force behind finding the ferry its new boat, a decision that will serve our communities for many years to come. Beyond all of that, he was a genuine friend to so many of us who had the privilege of volunteering alongside.
